you can tweek the template, that is what i did, its easy. Just take a picture of what you would like for your top, make an entry onto your blog of it then once its posted, click onthe picture and go to properties. Save the link, then go into your template edit area and remove the preset "picture.jpg" and replace with your saved picture.jpg from your blog. Check out mine, if you have any questions maybe we could yahoo talk it though.
The background where your posts are is gray because of a background image in the #outer-wrapper div
