I have been having such a bad time trying to use dpns. And I could never figure out what everybody was going on about when they say "try them, you'll love them." Well I tried and tried and tried and cried and cried and cried. I kept thinking it can't be any more difficult than using circulars which I use for pretty much everything whether it needs it or not just because they travel so nicely.Anyway, I got on the internet just a second ago to see if there was some sort of tutorial or something that would make it better. And yes, I found a tutorial, and I had that magical moment of epiphany of what I should be doing, vs what I was actually doing. It was a total DUH! when I realized my mistake. It's so stupid and ridiculous that I am not even going to tell you what I was doing wrong, but I will say this. My technique was the equivalent of using a different computer to type each word in this blog. I hope the knitting police aren't going to come to my house and revoke my knitting license. I absolutely positively can't believe it never even occured to do it the right way. It's so stinking obvious. sigh.

I went through that same progression when I learned dpn's. Of course, being so stubborn I didn't want someone to SHOW me... so I just impaled myself a few times before I came to that 'DOH!' moment...
I happily watched people do it before I took the plunge for my sleeves. It is true you have to have a "duh" moment for things to gel!
The most important thing is that you've learned it.
hmmm, now I want to know what you did ;).. Glad you learned how to use them. I've found that using bamboo over metal dpns helps too.
