Knitting with beads

I'm thinking about knitting a scarf with beads. It looks pretty straight forward to thread up the beads on the yarn, then working the beads into the stitch, but I could be wrong about that. I tend to have more courage than actual skill when it comes to stuff like that. Anybody have tips, advice, or warnings?
